This hidden gem in Fortitude Valley has history in its walls and stories to tell. Our historical venue was originally built as a flour mill in 1909 before it later became an army barracks for WWII pilots. Baedeker now operates as a wine bar and function space, ideal for hosting engagement parties. We invite you to take a journey back in time with us as you share the next important chapter in your own story.
At Baedeker, we have something to suit everyone. Whether you want a large cocktail party with an eclectic edge in the Acland room, an intimate private family dinner in our Cellar (behind the revolving bookcase!) or a casual yet stylish get together in The Garden. Baedeker has three function rooms that can be tailored to suit your individual tastes and preferences.
We understand that you want to save your time and energy for planning the big day itself. For this reason we have simplified the process for you with our venue packages in conjunction with our catering partner, Wine & Dine’m Catering. In 2019 Wine & Dine’m was awarded the National Events Caterer of the Year award. Their reputation for crafting memorable events means you can be assured you are in the right hands. Wine & Dine’m Catering’s team of international chefs research and refine each of their menus. Their menus change seasonally as they use only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients. Each of their menus were designed for Baedeker with the style of each room taken into consideration.

The Cellar
The Cellar is the hero of Baedeker Bar. This intimate space is hidden behind a revolving bookshelf and features a beautiful rustic table and heritage brick work. The hand crafted table can seat up to 18 of your closest friends and family. With this in mind we recommend our Cellar exclusive menu. The Beef tenderloin with grain crusted carrot, mace spinach and bone marrow jus is our top pick. This hearty dish pairs well with a vintage red.
The Garden
The Garden is the most modern function space available. This outdoor oasis is perfect for a canape function under the festoon lights. The Pumpkin sponge roll with crystallized citrus and pumpkin mousse is always a crowd favourite. Especially when paired with a spritz in hand!
Acland Room
Acland Room is the most versatile of Baedeker’s function spaces. Due to it’s ability to easily transfigure from sit-down dining to a cocktail soiree, the possibilities are endless.
